Dear Friend,

Each of us carries some kind of hurt—an illness that lingers, a diagnosis that reshapes our life, or the daily ache of weakness we never asked for. Yet even in the midst of these, God is doing something beautiful.

In this week’s issue, we explore how hope can bloom in midst of physical challenges, and how that same hope gives rise to compassion for others. Adriana Morales reminds us that rest, renewal, and healthy rhythms are not signs of weakness but acts of trust in God’s care. Lacey Rowlen shares how Christ’s victory over the world gives us courage to endure our own trials. Joni Eareckson Tada beautifully reveals how God transforms suffering into spiritual flourishing. And Shauna Amick challenges us to see and value those with disabilities as God does—each one a reflection of His divine image.

As you read, may you feel seen, strengthened, and inspired to look with fresh eyes—seeing both your own pain and the pain of others through the lens of God’s redeeming love.

Have you over-committed yourself because you were afraid of saying ‘no’? Have you dealt with a life-altering scenario, a debilitating medical diagnosis, without any sign of relief?

There’s no question, chronic stress has an adverse impact on our health. Dr. Gabor Maté acknowledged the impact of prolonged stress on our bodies in his first article as a medical columnist. He reminds us today that, “when we have been prevented from learning how to say no, our bodies may end up saying it for us.”
